Join the Global Humanities Alliance for a workshop led by the Digital Transformations Working Group.
The Global Humanities Alliance Working Group on Digital Transformations will run a workshop on the topic ‘Global Perspectives on Platforms, AI, and Cultural Production‘ on Wednesday 7 March 2025, 12.00-12.45 BST.
Professor David B. Nieborg and Professor Thomas Poell will offer a workshop on their research, followed by a discussion on similar work across the Global Humanities Alliance in order to facilitate collaboration around AI & Cultural Practices.
Professor Umut Aydin, Director of Instituto de Ciencia Política, Universidad Católica de Chile, will act as discussant for the workshop.
Bios:
David B. Nieborg is an Associate Professor of Media Studies at the University of Toronto. He held fellowships and affiliations with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, MIT, the Queensland University of Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Amsterdam. He is the co-author of Platforms and Cultural Production (Polity, 2021) and Mainstreaming and Game Journalism (MIT Press, 2023).
Thomas Poell is Professor of Data, Culture & Institutions at the University of Amsterdam, program director MA Media Studies, and director of the Research Priority Area on Global Digital Cultures. He is co-author of The Platform Society (Oxford University Press, 2018) and Platforms and Cultural Production (Polity, 2021).
